E Journal Post 04 [Drums] / Monday, May 21, 2012

Hi all! Posting about my practice again! :D

Today Billy taught me and jieling a few useful practices. So yeuup. I re-devised my practice routine! :D hahahaha.

Warning: The way i practice may not be correct so follow at your own risk.

Anyway, in this video, i was sort of practicing my strokes. I practiced more of the left hand because i think it's pretty stiff. Like reeeallly stiff. So i just accented on the 1 and 3 and made the 2 and 4 a little more silent.

Next part i just did a simple RRRR-LLLL-RLRLRLRL-RLRR-LRLL kind of motion. Billy told me and jieling what the proper name of this is called but i kinda forgot so after i'll ask him again, soon. LOL.

Then the last part is where i do just RLRLs indifferent beats. First is Crotchets, then Quavers, then Semiquavers. My semiquavers are pretty weak. So i guess i need more work on that. :x

That's it for this video then. :x My adobe premier crashed on me so i edited this video in windows :( :( :(

I'm going to practice this on a daily basis and make myself feel comfortable with the way i hit the drums.

Main goal:
NEED TO LOOSEN UP LEFT HAND GRIP. IS TOO STIFF. :x

See Y'all!

E Journal Post 03 [Drums] / Sunday, May 20, 2012

Hi all! Sorry for the late post. I keep forgetting to take videos of myself practicing. :x But i was kinda doing the same things though. Like practicing with a click for 30 minutes continuously, then doing song covers for as long as i want. LOL

Anyway today i had jamming with my own band. (Called Six Harmonix LOL Check it out hahaha) Then i was thinking "Oh maybe i can make them help me in taking a video!

So there, i made my Bassist, my Rhythm guitarist and my vocalist accompany me as i do this drum cover of the song Butterfly. LOL. (My lead guitarist was LATE -as usual- so we did it without him. hahahaha)

I made a few mistakes but well, i'll improve. Definitely! HAHHA.

I think i did pretty good although there were mistakes haha.

See y'all! :D

Improvement :D [Vocals] / Thursday, May 10, 2012

helloooo all. I'm not showing how i practice this time, but more of how i improved. hehe.

Uhm let's see:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0eXQ-lw3Uc&list=UU7dVIGCi5ssxUQbjl_ih2cA&index=5&feature=plcp

This song is called "Kokoro". I sang this version in year 2009. LOL. Not that good right? Yeah. i know. LOL. But it seemed so good during that time. haha

Before i show anymore, just a little bit of background info on the singer. LOL. This is a vocaloid song. Vocaloids are some sort of voice synthesizer i think i cant really remember. LOL. But then this is sung by a vocaloid called Kagamine Rin. There's a counterpart of Rin, called Len, and he had sung the same song, but with a different melody line. The song is then called "Kiseki". So if they're combined, it'll be called "Kokoro Kiseki" LOL

Then recently, i covered "Kokoro Kiseki". Haha. Means i merged both of them together.

http://soundcloud.com/zeruena/kokoro-kiseki-cover

First of all: BETTER MIC. HAHA.

I recorded and mixed this in 5 hours haha. :D I tried to not make the overlapping melody lines sound messy. It wasn't easy la. LOL

Comparing these 2 i feel like i really have improved lol. :D Hope you all enjoy it too. :p hehe

See Y'all! :D

Jayesslee Concert / Monday, May 07, 2012

Hi Peeps! What's up.

Okay this post isn't about how i practice, but more of a performace that i watched a couple of days ago. :D

Okay. So on Saturday, i went to watch the Jayesslee concert with my sister. (My sister is a HUGE fangirl. She watched the concert on both days, and even went to the meet and greet on the first day.)

Anyway, when i went there, first thing i noticed is that there were only 4 mixing engineers, two guys two girls, ALL CAUCASIANS. Haha. And throughout the whole concert there wasn't like, feedback at all. Haha. It was damn cool. Then i also saw the drum mikings. I was like, telling my sister "OMG I KNOW HOW TO MIKE THE DRUM THAT WAY ALSO! NEED MEASURING TAPE ONE..." but i don't think she was interested la. She keep taking photos of her precious Jayesslee Teeshirt. LOL.

During the concert, the girls(Jayesslee)were really casual. They did not walk around, but just sat on the chair, played the guitar and sang. It felt very real and very relaxing. I felt that through this concert i was sort of able to enjoy music much more. haha because their voices are SERIOUSLY very soothing.

I didn't regret going to their concert. :D hehe.

See y'all! ;D

E-Journal Post 02 [Drums] / Wednesday, May 02, 2012

Hiya all. I'm back with a new post. But it's a different instrument this time. It's DRUMS.

Anyway, i shall not type/say so much. Let's just quickly move on to how i practice...

Warning: The way i practice may not be correct so follow at your own risk.

First of all, I apologize that this video is so short. reason is because i'm actually doing the same thing for like 1hour or so. And around 4minutes or so i have already begun to rage and thus had switched off the camera. LOL.

For some reason when i do these 'rolls', my left hand gets tired, but my right hand seems very ready to go for more. I'm not sure if i'm doing this correctly or not.

Then next, i also did a cover of a song. (Japanese song. I'm quite a JPOP/JROCK person i think. LOL)

It's also quite late in the night so i didn't plug in the power source to my compact drums. But this works i think.

Song: Doubt and Trust. Artist: Access. Anime: DGrayman

Made a few mistakes here and there...

But i'm actually quite happy. When i first started drums and i tried to drum this song, my right hand was like, screaming "OMG PLEASE STOP. I'M IN PAIN!" But this time round when i did it, it was with ease. I could continue for longer periods. Which meant that i really did improve. Yay! :D

Okay. This marks the end of my post. Hope to improve more on my drumming so i can cover tougher songs in the future! :D

PS; i dont know why there are TWO windows to my videos -.- LOL

See Y'all! :D

Hello everyone. This is my blog.

#youdontsay.

Anyway. This is like an electronic diary for one of my modules in my course, called performance practices. And as the name suggests, this is a blog to sort of, monitor how we practice our stuff.

In this blog, i will record how i practice to improve on my drums as well as my vocals. :D

Warning: The way i practice may not be correct so follow at your own risk.

I just HAD to say that, in case some people follow how i practice then they go "BUT NETTO DID THAT! D:"

Okay anyway, this is the first post, i will post the very first performance i had inside school. :D The Solo performance! :D

Song title: Sobakasu. Artist: Judy and Mary.

Okay. FIRST THING I WANT TO IMPROVE ON AFTER I SEE THIS VIDEO. IS TO IMPROVE ON MY STAGE PRESENCE AND CONFIDENCE.

I mean, sheesh... look at me!!! Im so... amateurish. LOL. My friend once told me, if she closes her eyes and hear me sing, she'll think that i am full of confidence. Then when she open her eyes, she's like "OH HELL NO."

When i'm interviewed on stage i tend to get tongue tied as well. :x Personally I DONT LIKE THAT FEELING. LOL.

So to train myself i usually will watch how other people handle interviews. Like other singers who were asked the same questions, how did they react? And as for confidence, i just need to tell myself to immerse in the music. :( Confidence level must be all the way to 3000%!!!!!

And stage presence wise... hahah i practically facepalmed at the part where i went slightly off. LOL I mean, it MAY be unnoticeable if i didn't make it that obvious... you know. That's why i really want to improve myself in terms of these! :D

Yeuup. I think that's all for this post.

In conclusion, i need to work on stage presence, confidence, stage presence, confidence, stage presence, maybe the control over my voice, confidence, stage presence, did i say confidence? Yeah that, and Stage presence. :D

See y'all! :D
